Melissa Rivers is now saying that the way Kathy Griffin left E!’s “Fashion Police” was so disrespectful that it “shit all over [her] mother’s legacy.”

In an interview with Hoda Kotb on Thursday, Kotb asked Rivers what she thought her mother would think about the debacle that is the fashion talk show now. (The show is on hiatus since two of its hosts, Kathy Griffin (Joan’s replacement) and Kelly Osbourne quit because of remarks Giuliana Ranic made.)

Rivers said it never would have happened if her mother was alive, and that Kathy Griffin wasn’t “a match” for the show “on a lot of levels.”

“My biggest complaint was the feeling that she kind of shit all over my mother’s legacy in her statement on leaving. And I know that was not an intentional reading of it, but that’s how I felt… by calling the comedy and the style of it old-fashioned. It was like, I understand what you were doing, you’re trying to save yourself, but don’t crap all over my mother to do it.”
