Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan accused the Wall Street Journal of fake news Tuesday for claiming the Freedom Caucus is trying to replace Republican leadership in the House.

“It’s completely inaccurate,” Jordan said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

The Wall Street Journal published a scathing editorial last week telling Freedom Caucus Chair Mark Meadows to “man up” if the Freedom Caucus was really planning a coup to replace Speaker Paul Ryan.

“The Freedom Caucus specialty is the stab in the back,” WSJ wrote. “Clearly it’s time for Mr. Meadows to step into the spotlight and take some leadership responsibility.”

“No one is talking about any kind of change in leadership,” Jordan asserted, pushing back on the report, “and frankly, instead of the Wall Street Journal using six unnamed sources to write something that’s just not accurate–and this is not the first time they’ve done it–why don’t they just call us?”

Jordan then challenged WSJ to call him and Rep. Meadows the next time they write a story about the Freedom Caucus members and recited the number to his office phone.

“Call anytime, I would be happy to talk to you and set the record straight.”
