David Hookstead is editor of The Daily Caller‘s “The Smoke Room.”

Just a thought. David Hookstead covered some good ground with Tim Kennedy; however, I’d encourage him to have more enthusiasm or chutzpah. Such great guests and topics require they interviewer to appear engaged and excited. Sadly, David seemed bored. Thank you for the news you bring, DC.

Tucker Carlson throws shade at WaPo media writer Erik Wemple in a GQ profile

“He devoted several shows this spring to two teenage immigrants who had allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in the bathroom of a high school in Rockville, Maryland: “The Rockville rape atrocity may have been a rude awakening for some government officials that sometimes when foreign countries send their people here, they are not sending their very best,” said Carlson, echoing a Trump applause line.”

“When the charges against the boys were dropped, Erik Wemple, a media reporter for The Washington Post, asked Carlson if he planned to do an on-air apology. He never did. ‘Tucker is always looking to arrange facts and rumors to make it appear far more egregious than it ever was,’ Wemple said, ‘and that’s just his game. He’s a great polemical gladiator.’ When I ask Carlson about Wemple, he deflects with a dose of Tucker Disassociation Syndrome: ‘Erik Wemple? I don’t know the name. I don’t think Erik Wemple is a real name.'”

Hollywood filmmaker goes off on Paul Manafort

“Wiretapped Manafort faces indictment. The mentally ill lying racist misogynist childish bully can’t tweet his way out of this.” — Rob Reiner.

CNN’s Cillizza has zero sense of humor about Spicer’s Emmy appearance

CNN’s Chris Cillizza, who writes a No Point newsletter for CNN called “The Point,” doesn’t think former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer‘s goof at the Emmys was very funny.

This should come as no surprise, considering that Cillizza, a folksy DC newsman brand, doesn’t often have a sense of humor about anything. And this just gives him a dumb reason to go off on a morally superior rant about how unfunny Spicer showing up on a Melissa McCarthy podium was.

The annoying thing about Cillizza is you could see his “This Sean Spicer thing isn’t funny” talking point coming a mile away.

Which actually makes the whole thing funnier.
