Otto Warmbier’s father will reportedly attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, presumably to remind the world that North Korea murdered his son.

As North Korea tries to steal the show, the U.S. is working to combat Pyongyang’s propaganda efforts. To advance this agenda, Fred Warmbier will travel to South Korea this weekend for the opening ceremony of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, according to The Washington Post. He will be there as a special guest of Vice President Mike Pence.

Otto was detained in North Korea two years ago while on a tour, allegedly for attempting to pilfer a propaganda poster. He was sentenced to fifteen years of hard labor for engaging in anti-state activities, but he was released a little over a year later after his physical condition began to deteriorate. The boy returned home last summer in a coma, and he died a week later.

Otto was 22 when he passed away.

While a lot of questions remain unanswered, the Warmbier’s assert that their son was brutalized by the North Korean regime, which stands accused of torturing Otto.

Fred and Cindy Warmbier were both present at Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.

“You are powerful witnesses to a menace that threatens our world, and your strength inspires us all,” the president said Tuesday evening. “Tonight we pledge to honor Otto’s memory with American resolve,” he added.

At the Olympics, Pence will remind the world that North Korea is not a normal nuclear state committed to peace but rather a horrible country led by a vile regime. The vice president is “going to ensure that, from a messaging standpoint, that it isn’t turned into two weeks of propaganda,” a senior White House official recently told Voice of America, adding, “It’s speaking truth on the world stage, which is the opposite of what the North Koreans do.”

“The North Koreans have been master manipulators in the past. It’s a murderous state,” the official explained.
