CNN’s Chris Cuomo challenged former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on his assessment of West Wing job turnover and compared it to “bloodletting” Monday during a segment on “New Day.”

“I want to state for the record though, it’s not like I want bad things to happen,” Scaramucci said. “I want the White House to work smoothly and be completely functional.”

“But it’s not,” Cuomo shot back.

“If the president’s making more changes, he’s making more strategic changes in personnel, maybe that will smooth things out on a going-forward basis.” Scaramucci replied.

Cuomo questioned Trump’s strategy and said the firings were more like “bloodletting” and less about actually getting things done.

“Who says it is strategic? It has been such a bloodletting,” Cuomo said. “We have never seen kind of this turnover. He said he would bring in the best people. That’s one basis of criticism. But this doesn’t seem to be about strategic choices. It just seems to be like, you’re out and we don’t know what the vision is.”

“He is an entrepreneur,” Scaramucci replied. “Have you ever run a business?”

After Cuomo admitted he had never run a business, Scaramucci said Trump is following the model of a startup.

“This is a startup,” Scaramucci said. “And the way you’ve got to look at a startup is, he is trying to put personnel on the field that like him, get his personality–”

Cuomo cut him off to call the comparison absurd, before Scaramucci pointed out that the American people voted for change and didn’t want the status quo.

“Hold on a second, Chris. You hired an American business leader who is an entrepreneur to run the White House.”
