MSNBC anchors Ali Velshi and Stephanie Ruhle warned their viewers Tuesday that protests for gun control have been largely ineffective, pointing to the uptick in donations to the National Rifle Association.

Velshi and Ruhle said that leftists are deluded if they think that social media followers and large marches are making an impact on the gun debate, as the NRA managed to raise $2.4 million in March.
“And we want to point out a stark reality of the gun debate. Despite mass demonstrations for gun control, of course, like the March for Our Lives and multiple mass shootings this past year, the NRA has reached a fundraising record,” Ruhle declared.
Ruhle noted that people who are willing to send a check to the NRA will also be likely to vote in elections.
“So it’s not to say that we’re not inspired and excited by all these kids standing up and marching, but when we hear things like, ‘Look how many Instagram followers and Twitter followers they have,’ that doesn’t matter,” she concluded.
“That’s real dollars going to the NRA,” Velshi interjected.
“The NRA has real dollars and that’s action. Pay attention,” Ruhle told viewers, with Velshi adding, “We shouldn’t kid ourselves about that.”
