House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi dodged on Thursday when asked if she would instruct Democrats to vote for making middle class tax cuts permanent.
On Tuesday, Pelosi admitted that she wants to raise taxes, telling Politico’s Jake Sherman, “I do think we should revisit tax legislation in a way we always have, in a bipartisan, transparent way.” (RELATED: Pelosi Admits She Wants To Raise Your Taxes, But Don’t Worry, It’ll Be In A ‘Bipartisan Way’)

At a Thursday event with the Peter Peterson Foundation, Pelosi wouldn’t say if she would vote to make the middle class tax cuts permanent and instead bashed Republicans for not doing so in the first place.
“Well you see, here’s what this is since we’re having a budget meeting,” Pelosi began. “The reason they didn’t make them permanent in the first place was because they were operating under reconciliation and under reconciliation they could only have so much addition to the debt.”
“In their priorities, they chose corporate America over middle class families, because they couldn’t do both,” she continued.
The event moderator challenged Pelosi, noting that Republicans would be seeking to extend the tax cuts.
“How will Democrats vote on that?” the moderator asked.
“With all due respect, you never know what they’re going to do,” Pelosi said referring to Republicans, suggesting they wouldn’t even bring taxes up for a vote. “I’m not going to be here talking about things that they may or may not do because we just don’t know.”
