Democratic Illinois Rep. Luis Gutierrez said Friday on CNN that President Trump and White House chief of staff John Kelly are making immigrants undocumented and “eligible for deportation.”

Gutierrez said Kelly should “step up and do your job,” and that he should stop telling “the President of the United States you don’t need the Congress of the United States to do a single thing.”
The Illinois representative also said he knows Kelly is “not fulfilling his responsibility.”
“He comes on a radio program and he knows the executive branch of government, which he is the chief of staff to, is the ones that have caused for hundreds of thousand of people who are here legally in the United States,” Gutierrez said of Kelly and Trump. “They are here legally, and he made them undocumented and therefore eligible for deportation. So they can continue to feed this kind of xenophobic racist nonsense to their base voters. He’s got to fulfill his responsibilities. He’s got to act.”
