Fox News seems to be changing the office culture at its D.C. bureau with the addition of a new meditation room, complete with prayer rugs, which are commonly associated with Muslim prayer.

Fox made use of former contributor Oliver North’s office after he left the network to become president of the National Rifle Association, according to Vanity Fair’s Gabe Sherman Thursday. (RELATED: NYT Op-Ed Hits Back Against Radical Islam)

Sherman mocked Fox in the article and claimed Fox is having trouble adapting its 1950s workplace culture “to fit the times.” He also wrote staffers “are on edge” constantly and continue to struggle with the new guidelines on gender identity.

The Daily Caller News Foundation spoke to a source with knowledge of the room who said Sherman has blown the story completely out of proportion. They claimed the room is a “multi-purpose wellness room,” meant to serve as a quiet meditative place for all employees and nursing mothers. The source confirmed there were no other religious icons or symbols in the room, adding that the mats weren’t purchased with a particular faith in mind.

The source also said using North’s office for the wellness room was just a coincidence. He happened to leave at a time when employees needed the space.

This comes after Fox promoted longtime executive Suzanne Scott to run the network, making her the first female CEO in the company’s history.
