Kellyanne Conway made a blunt point about the abortion services provided by Planned Parenthood Friday morning.

As the White House counselor said about the president’s decision on Fox News, “Abortion is not family planning.” Conway was defending the Trump administration’s decision to pull funding from abortion provider Planned Parenthood. It was announced Friday that the government will aggressively ensure that family planning funds are not given to programs that perform abortions.

In a statement, a Trump official said

“HHS will file with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) a proposal to update the regulations governing the Title X program to ensure compliance with the program’s statutory prohibition on taxpayer funding of programs where abortion is a method of family planning. The proposal would require a bright line of physical as well as financial separation between Title X programs and any program (or facility) where abortion is performed, supported, or referred for as a method of family planning.”

The move could potentially cost Planned parenthood multi-millions in funding. When asked about the move, Conway said, “[This is] taking money that is Title X family planning money and recognizing that abortion is not family planning.”

Conway then went in on why taxpayers should not be funding abortion.

“Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider. It spends tens of millions on political activities,” Conway said, “We don’t think taxpayers should have to pay for that. Let’s get out of the business of [the] taxpayer funding of abortions. People still have a right to get them, but taxpayers shouldn’t be funding them.”
