The FBI agent whose firearm discharged while dancing in a Denver-area nightclub has been arrested.
Chase Bishop, 29, turned himself in to a Denver County court on Tuesday and was booked for second-degree assault charges, reported CBS Denver.
Bishop was attending one of Mile High Distillery’s “DJ-Fueled Weekend Dance Parties” on June 2 where he seen dancing and doing backflips. In the middle of a flip, a firearm dropped from Bishop’s waistband holster and discharged as he lunged for it.

The gun fired into a crowd of bystanders, hitting an adult male in the leg. The victim was rushed to the hospital but did not have life-threatening injuries. (RELATED: Free Drinks Forever For Man Shot By Dancing FBI Agent)
Police responded to the shooting at around 12:45 a.m. and Bishop was taken to police headquarters following the incident. He was subsequently released to FBI supervision and not immediately arrested.
A permit holder is allowed to carry a concealed weapon into a bar in Colorado unless the venue has a sign saying otherwise. Mile High Spirits does not permit loaded firearms in its bar without prior knowledge, and Bishop allegedly violated its rules.
Bishop is an FBI agent based out of Washington, D.C., according to 9News in Denver. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army for almost five years, during which time he achieved the rank of captain. By the time he was discharged in 2017, he had been awarded 10 commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, for his actions in Afghanistan.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office tweeted on Tuesday that it has not formally charged the agent, who is being held for the investigation.
