On today’s podcast we discuss what was a really bad day for journalism, where the freak out over the North Korea summit continued and wild speculation about the future was reported as “news.”

Listen to the show:

ABC had a big story about what “might, could, maybe” happen with President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. It was nothing but speculation and qualifying language. It wasn’t news; it was rumor presented as fact. CBS News did the same thing about the idea of Sarah Huckabee Sanders leaving the White House — reporting rumor as fact.

Only CBS forgot to contact Sanders — basic journalism — to see if the story was true before reporting it. Wolf Blitzer wants the world to know journalists love the American people…like someone loves their pet or royalty loves their subjects. And Californians will vote on the idea of breaking their state into three new states. Would this be a good idea? Spoiler alert: yes.
