Melania Trump Hopes For Immigration Reform To Solve Border Crisis

First Lady Melania Trump said through her spokesperson Sunday that she “hates to see” families being separated at the border and is hoping for immigration reform.

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, released the statement to CNN’s Kate Bennett regarding the border crisis. (RELATED: MSNBC: No, Migrant Children Are Not Kept In ‘Cages’)

“Mrs. Trump hates to see children separated from their families and and hops both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform,” the statement reads. “She believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart.”

The intense focus on migrant children largely started due to a photo of children sleeping in cages that was shared across social media and blamed on the Trump administration, however it was later discovered that the photo was taken when Barack Obama was still president. “It was kept very quiet under the Obama Administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet,” Democratic Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar admitted in an interview with CNN on Saturday.
