A total of 20 people were injured and a gunman is dead after a shootout during an all-night art festival on Sunday in Trenton, New Jersey, officials said.

A 33-year-old male shooter was killed, though it’s unclear whether he was killed by the police or another suspect, according to police. Another unnamed suspect is in custody.

The shooting, which occurred at 2:45 a.m., happened at the Roebling Market. The festival started Saturday and was scheduled to last through Sunday afternoon, but has now been cancelled.

Witnesses said they saw a fight breakout during the festival. People threw punches and people stampeded to flee the scene after gunshots were heard, according to reports by The Trentonian. (RELATED: 10 Dead, 10 Wounded In Shooting At Texas High School, Sheriff Confirms)

“Everybody ran toward the door,” witness Franco Roberts told the Trentonian. “And the people fighting and shooting got mixed with the crowd that was running and they went out the door shooting.”

The festival showcased local art music and food, where about 1,000 community members were within the vicinity, according to officials.

Trenton police Lt. Darren Zappley told WDSU, an ABC News affiliate, that the scene was “very chaotic” and multiple weapons were recovered from the crime scene.
