Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii said she believes people working closely with President Donald Trump have “sold their souls” and expressed an interest in seeing them resign, Tuesday on “Morning Joe.”

“There are a lot of Republicans, particularity on the House side that slow walks all of this and they really like what the president is doing and you know we just heard that there may be more tougher immigration policies coming down the pike from the likes of Steve Miller,” Hirono said. (RELATED: Mika Brzezinski Slams DHS Secretary For Defending Administration’s View On Immigration)

“For people like Ted Cruz and Orrin hatch to come forward to finally say this is not good. The image of children crying for their mommies and daddies, how does that not touch all of our hearts regardless of what political stripe we are.”

Hirono also attacked DHS Secretary Kristjen Nielsen and said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lies “on a regular basis.”

“Let’s start with the Secretary of Homeland Security. She was trotted forward to put a face — some kind of a nice frame to this, calling it not a policy. That’s a lie. I would say that Sarah Huckabee Sanders lies on a regular basis,” Hirono concluded. “All the people around the president who lie for him in order to keep their jobs, they have sold their souls. I would welcome their resignations.”
