President Donald Trump’s campaign manager on Tuesday called for the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and an end to the special counsel’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“Time to fire Sessions. End the Mueller investigation,” Brad Parscale, the manager of Trump’s 2020 campaign committee, wrote on Twitter.

“You can’t obstruct something that was phony against you The IG report gives @therealDonaldTrump the truth to end it all.”

Parscale was referring to a Department of Justice inspector general’s report released Friday that showed that in August 2016 the top FBI agent who handled the Russia investigation wrote that “we’ll stop” Trump from becoming president. The agent, Peter Strzok, would later work on special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation until July 2017, when he was removed from the Mueller team after the discovery of his anti-Trump text messages.
