Brothel owner and Nevada state legislature candidate Dennis Hof was accused of raping a prostitute in 2005 at a brothel he owned in Mound House, Nevada.
Hof was also accused in April of sexual assault by two ex-prostitutes for alleged incidents in 2009 and 2011, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Hof denied the allegations, and both charges were dropped because the statute of limitations had expired. (RELATED: Ocasio-Cortez: Abolishing ICE Is ‘Common Sense’)
The alleged 2005 rape was not reported to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department until 2007, when the unidentified woman who reported it was no longer working at Hof’s brothel. The sheriff’s department closed the case due to lack of evidence when Hof and a woman accused of being a witness, Christine Metzger, denied the allegations.
Hof beat three-term incumbent James Oscarson for the Republican nomination to a seat in Nevada’s state legislature on June 12. Hof, a former libertarian, claims President Donald Trump as an inspiration and wrote an autobiography entitled “The Art of the Pimp.”
After he defeated Oscarson, Hof received support from evangelicals who believe he will be a candidate who cares about religious and individual liberties.
“People will set aside for a moment their moral beliefs, their religious beliefs, to get somebody that is honest in office. Trump is the trailblazer, he is the Christopher Columbus of honest politics,” Hof told Reuters after he won the primary.
