White House counselor Kellyanne Conway ridiculed Democratic efforts to obstruct President Donald Trump’s future nominee to the Supreme Court in a Monday morning interview on “Fox & Friends.”

“That’s too bad,” Conway said of Democratic desire for a 4–4 split along party lines on the court, adding, “they should have elected their person president, I suppose.”

The presidential counselor described Trump’s ongoing process to pick a replacement for retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

“This president wants somebody who has great experience, deep intellect, wonderful judicial credentials,” she said, adding that Trump would not be discussing potential nominees’ views on abortion during his interviews.

Trump elaborated to Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo Sunday that while he will not ask nominees about the abortion issue, “Maybe someday it will be to the states. You never know how that’s going to turn out. That’s a very complex question. The ‘Roe v. Wade’ is probably the one that people are talking about in terms of having an effect, but we’ll see what happens, but it could very well end up with states at some point.”
