Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer took to Twitter to express his negative opinions of Brett Kavanaugh, one of four candidates President Trump has selected to replace Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy on Tuesday.
Brett Kavanaugh is a judge on the Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit & on @realDonaldTrump’s pre-approved list, having passed the “litmus test” on overturning Roe v. Wade & striking down protections for ppl w/ pre-ex conditions in the ACA. Here’s #WhatsAtStake if he’s confirmed:

The New York congressman expressed his beliefs that Kavanaugh is unfit to serve on the Supreme Court for his stated beliefs on net neutrality and powerful interests and his arguments against Obamacare. Schumer even questioned Kavanaugh’s ability to be impartial.
Kavanaugh has taken numerous positions that question his ability to be an indep. check on @POTUS, saying investigations of presidents should be deferred while in office & a president needn’t obey it when he “deems the law unconstitutional.” #WhatsAtStake https://t.co/fOXkEJuBxt

The Twitter rant concludes with Schumer begging the president to pick a nominee who wasn’t on the list of pre-approved candidates that the White House released last November.
Instead of picking a #SCOTUS nominee off a list pre-approved by powerful special interests, @realDonaldTrump should instead consult with @SenateDems & @SenateGOP to find a consensus, mainstream & independent nominee. #WhatsAtStake https://t.co/ZfHg0ZZjO0

Schumer also attacked another potential nominee in Amy Coney Barrett, by claiming she had passed President Trump’s “litmus test.” He accused her, like Kavanaugh, of being a pawn used by the president to overturn previous rulings that went the other way. Both Kavanaugh and Barrett appear to be at the top of the President’s list of potential nominees. He will make the official announcement next Monday, on July 9.
