An Islamic State leader’s son was killed on a Syrian battlefield, according to an ISIS news service.

Hudhayfah al-Badri, the son of ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, was killed in an operation in Homs, Syria, the global terror network announced Tuesday. The radical Islamic extremists mourned his death in a special announcement.

“Hudhayfah al-Badri … the son of the Caliph … was killed in an operation against the Nusayriyyah and the Russians at the thermal power station in Homs,” the media statement read, according to Reuters. Nusayriyyah refers to the Alawites in Syria.

The death of the “young man” was also reported by the SITE Intel Group, a well known jihadist watchdog organization. He was reportedly killed in an Inghimasi operation, or suicide attack. (RELATED: Trump: US Has Bombed ISIS ‘Much Harder’ Since NYC Terror Attack)

Under mounting global pressure, ISIS has lost nearly all of its territorial holdings in Iraq and Syria, and a major assault considered by many observers as an attempt to secure a foothold in Southeast Asia by way of Marawi in the Philippines was turned back in 2017.
