This preemptive strike from the left against any nominee doesn’t let the facts or reality stand in the way of a good story.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has a laundry list of fearmongering progressive fever dreams she’s using to oppose someone, any nominee, who doesn’t yet exist. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has made it most specific by attacking Judge Amy Coney Barrett, reportedly on President Trump’s short-list, because the optics of a bunch of liberal white men saying these things to a woman’s face during a confirmation hearing won’t go over well with the American people, especially if she were able to respond. But she can’t respond right now, so they’re hoping to damage her in the eyes of the public before she’s even considered.

More importantly, Democrats are looking to rile up their angry mob to mobilize and protest (or even riot) over whomever the president chooses, without acknowledging the fact that the Supreme Court was never supposed to matter this much. But so much of the liberal agenda is not advanced through the legislative process; it’s advanced through court decrees, so the party whose protesters chant “This is what democracy looks like” actually fears the democratic process. We explain it all.
