Richard Overton, the nation’s oldest living World War II veteran, regained his bank funds that had been stolen.

The 112-year-old Austin, Texas, resident had his bank account drained and identity stolen. Overton’s family said they filed a police report on June 29, after noticing four withdrawals over the last several months, reported News Channel 9.

Overton’s Social Security number was used to create a fake bank account with access to his personal checking and the money was used to purchase saving bonds, The Dallas Morning News reported. Bank of America restored funds to his account.

“Man, I teared up,” Volma Overton, a cousin, said, according to The Associated Press. “I couldn’t believe it. They made it happen. The executive of the company said he’d take care of this, and he took care of it.”

In order to recover Overton’s funds, Bank of America had him and his family come in and sign to restore the funds. The bank is moving forward with a cooperative investigation with the local authorities on finding out who is responsible for the theft. A GoFundMe account from 2016 that has raised over $440,000 to fund in home care for Overton was separate from the stolen funds.
