Huron City Councilwoman Carol Fowler bit a Kansas corrections officer’s finger so hard on July 2, she broke the officer’s bone.
This happened three days after the Kansas councilwoman was arrested for failing to appear in court on a different charge. Fowler, 48, was taken in by police on June 29 on a failure to appear warrant and showed such strong resistance, they had to use stun guns to subdue her. She began kicking and scratching at deputies who were forced to taser her. No one was seriously injured during this encounter, according to The Kansas City Star. After the scuffle, authorities booked Fowler on a $5,000 bond for interfering with an officer and for battery — in addition to the original December charge for being a pedestrian under the influence and interfering with law enforcement, according to the Atchison Globe.
Three days later, Fowler bit a prison officer while they were trying to finish her booking process. She bit down on the man’s thumb so hard, it broke the bone, ABC 15 reported.
Fowler’s bond was upped to $25,343 and she was hit with additional charges of battery on a law enforcement officer. She is now facing three felony charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, a misdemeanor charge of battery on a law enforcement officer and a charge of interfering with law enforcement, according to the Atchison Globe.
Fowler earned her seat on the Huron City Council in November after garnering only two votes, the Atchison Globe reported. Huron has a population of around 73, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
