Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) said President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh “has all the right qualities” in a recent phone interview with West Virginia Metro news.

“Do you have a lean today?” Hoppy Kercheval asked Manchin.

“No, I don’t have a lean,” he replied. “I think he seems to be a very fine person of high moral standards. A family person who’s very involved in his community. Has all the right qualities. He’s well-educated.”

Manchin is up for reelection this fall. While current polls show him beating GOP contender Patrick Morrisey, he faces a tough decision in voting for or against Kavanaugh.

A recent poll found that 59 percent of West Virginia voters want Manchin to confirm President Trump’s choice. (RELATED: NBC’S CHUCK TODD: KAVANAUGH IS ‘VERY CONFIRMABLE’)

“Most importantly, Hop, I intend to hear from West Virginians. And during that period of time, I just announced, I’ll be hearing from West Virginians and their opinion. And I think they have, also, a right. And that’s who I work for. They’re my boss. And we want to hear from them, too, during this process” Manchin added.

The addition of a Democratic vote for Kavanaugh could turn out to be the deciding factor, as Sen. John McCain is currently battling brain cancer, and Senators Murkowski and Collins have shown to be less than willing to confirm a justice who is hostile towards Roe v. Wade.
