West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin said he wouldn’t concede when it came to talk of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer potentially pressuring him into a no vote on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination.

“I’ll be 71 years old in August, you’re going to whip me? Kiss my you know what,” said Manchin, a red state senator and potential swing vote, when asked what his response would be if Schumer stiff arms him in the upcoming senate hearings, according to Politico.

Schumer and other Democrats are trying block the Kavanaugh nomination — in large part because they believe he would potentially vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and other health care policies, according to The Hill.

Schumer and the rest of leadership plan to put pressure on vulnerable Democratic senators from Republican or right-leaning swing states because these individuals more often vote independently and tread carefully in hopes of holding onto their seat, according to Politico. (RELATED: Dems Demand GOP Wait Until After Midterms to Replace Kennedy)

To be successful, Schumer is going to need all Senate Democrats to vote no and a moderate Republican — like Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski or Maine Republican Sen. Susan Collins — to follow suit, according to Time. The two senators are supportive of abortion rights.

“I’m going to vote the way I’m going to vote regardless of what the leader says,” said North Dakota Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, according to Politico.

Senators like Manchin, Heitkamp and Indiana Democratic Sen. Joe Donnelly are all potential yes votes since all three supported President Donald Trump’s last Supreme Court nominee, Justice Neil Gorsuch, Politico reported.

“My decision won’t have anything to do with Chuck Schumer,” Donnelly told Politico.
