Meghan McCain was shouted down by her co-hosts and audience Friday as she attempted to defend people who voted for President Donald Trump.
“You know what? Forget it,” McCain exclaimed at one point.
It happened during a discussion on “The View” as co-hosts argued over whether Trump’s ability to appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court of the United States was worth any damage that he might inflict on the Republican Party.

Guest co-host Tara Setmayor said his supporters, the “cult” are the ones that will believe anything Trump said.
“Not everyone. But there’s a large group of people who blindly follow what this man says that don’t think for themselves, where he actually can get away with saying things on tape and turning around and saying this is ‘fake news’ now,” Setmayor claimed. “That is a cult.”
“Listen, I defend his supporters because I understand it,” McCain responded, then asked her co-host if as a conservative was she “mad at what’s happening on the Supreme Court and the two Supreme court choices?”
Setmayor responded that she didn’t think “it’s worth it.”
“I don’t think that undermining democratic institutions norms and ideals to have someone like this who is dishonest and unfit to be president is worth it,” Setmayor said. “No, I don’t.”
McCain then reminded her co-hosts that Trump has an approval rating of 89 percent with Republicans before she was shouted down by co-hosts and the audience members.
“No, let me say something, Sarah. No, let me finish,” McCain shouted. “I don’t understand why we’re not trying to understand.”
The cheering became very loud, before she responded, “You know what? Forget it.”
“I have made the conscious choice to try and understand his voters,” McCain finally was able to explain. “Understand what’s happening in the party and have some compassion for some people who felt like they didn’t have any other choice. And I think when we sit here in studios in Manhattan judging the middle of the country, we make no waves whatsoever.”
