White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reminded reporters in a press briefing on Wednesday afternoon that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election under the Obama administration — not during Trump’s presidency.

“The president said that the Democrats are weak, that Republicans basically have better systems. Do you see it as an issue of American democracy or just his opponents being attacked?” a reporter asked.

“The president thinks that we have to focus on securing our election integrity and our systems. That’s why he’s spent so much time with his administration making sure this didn’t happen again,” Huckabee Sanders said. “Let’s not forget, this didn’t happen under President Trump’s watch. This happened under the Obama administration.”

Many have come out against President Obama for being too weak on Russian’s meddling because he thought Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton would’ve won.

“We’re doing very well,” Trump said earlier today regarding relations with Russia. “Probably as well as anybody has ever done with Russia. And there’s been no president ever as tough as I have been on Russia.” (RELATED: Trump Asked About Being Soft On Putin – Trump Gives Them A Bloody Reminder That He Hasn’t)
