Soledad O’Brien recently criticized Meghan McCain’s comments on a Tuesday episode of “The View” concerning the growing tendency of Democrats to support socialist policies while hosts were discussed New York congressional hopeful Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Soledad tweeted a response to McCain’s comments on Wednesday, calling her performance a “full-on freak-out”:

McCain immediately hit back, taking to Twitter to respond to the former MSNBC and Al Jazeera America news correspondent, saying, “Get a life, Soledad — I’m passionate and don’t want my grandkids growing up in a socialist nation.” (RELATED: Meghan McCain Explains Democratic Socialism: ‘Name One Country’ That Has Successfully Used Socialism)

During the panel discussion Tuesday, McCain noted Margaret Thatcher’s famous quote about socialism and challenged Ocasio-Cortez to name one country that has found success with it.

“The problem with socialism, in the words of Margaret Thatcher, is: at a certain point, you run out of spending other people’s money,'” McCain explained. “Venezuela, one of the richest countries in the world in the 70s — now the average Venezuelan has lost 24 pounds because they’re starving to death. Ninty percent of the country is living in poverty. This is what I need from her. Name one country [where] socialism has ever worked.”
