A San Francisco bus driver made a series of announcements regarding the possibility of needles being left on or under seats, painting a dismal picture of just how dire things have become in the city plagued with homelessness and trash.

Buzzfeed reporter Caroline O’Donovan tweeted about the announcements on Thursday.

The warning was repeated several times, each time the bus stopped and more passengers boarded.

After a few stops, a woman wearing a mask and gloves and carrying a dustpan boarded, cleaning up any potential hazards.

San Francisco has been in trouble for some time, with new mayor London Breed complaining in June that the city was effectively drowning in poop.

She said, “There is more feces on the sidewalks than I’ve ever seen growing up here. That is a huge problem and we are not just talking about from dogs — we’re talking about from humans.”
