Melania Trump’s spokesperson Stephanie Grisham condemned “The View” for criticizing the first lady on Friday for her comments about the anonymous New York Times op-ed written by a senior administration official.

Grisham quote tweeted an article from Raw Story titled, “‘The View’ destroys Melania for attacking anonymous NYT op-ed — after helping Trump push birther lies.” (RELATED: Melania Calls NYT Op-Ed Writer ‘Cowardly,’ Blasts Anonymous Source)

She added, “If by ‘destroy’ you mean being disrespectful & hypocritical while mocking someone’s accent, then the ‘ladies’ of @TheView succeeded.”

Prior to Sunny Hostin reading Trump’s statement, Whoopi Goldberg warned her not to try to impersonate the first lady with an accent.

“People with no names are writing our nation’s history. Words are important. And accusations can lead to severe consequences,” Hostin said sarcastically. “They have responsibility to publicly stand by their words and people have the right to be able to defend themselves.”
