President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, has forcefully denied allegations of sexual misconduct against him which were made public over the weekend.
The allegations were made by Christine Blasey Ford on Sunday at the 11th hour of his confirmation process. Ford accused Kavanaugh of assaulting her 36 years ago when they were both teenagers who had been drinking at a house party. Kavanaugh has forcefully denied the allegations, said he was never at the party and welcomed further questions about the incident.
GOP led Judiciary Committee has signaled they are open to hearing from Ford but claim to have not received cooperation from Senate Democrats.
The allegations have caused some senators to walk back — or at least qualify — their support for Kavanaugh.
Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona, once a staunch Kavanaugh supporter, said Ford deserves a hearing before advancing Kavanaugh’s nomination.
Flake said in an interview, “If they push forward without any attempt with hearing what she’s had to say, I’m not comfortable voting yes. We need to hear from her. And I don’t think I’m alone in this.”
Conservative firebrand Ann Counter hit back at Flake on Twitter. “Hey Jeff Flake: Sure, let’s postpone the vote so we can hear her “repressed memory” from 35 years ago,” Coulter said, “Here’s MY repressed memory: You as a Republican.”

Flake has regularly criticized the Trump administration and Republican members of Congress in the press.

President Trump forcefully defended his embattled pick for the Supreme Court Monday at the White House, saying the nomination “will work out very well.”
