The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel accused Democrats of misleading the public in regards to the FBI’s role in investigating the sexual assault allegations levied against Brett Kavanaugh on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Strassel, the FBI conducts background checks of judicial nominees. It then compiles a report on each nominee and passed it to the White House and Senate. (RELATED: Kimberly Strassel Picks Apart Feinstein’s Kavanaugh Letter: ‘Timing Here Cannot Be Ignored’)

As Strassel points out, it would be unusual for the FBI to investigate the allegations.

Further, the Justice Department said it’s not the FBI’s job to judge the credibility of the accusation, and they also said that the FBI referred the allegations to the White House counsel, according to the Associated Press.

Strassel concluded the twitter thread saying, “Democrats know this, and are willfully misleading by suggesting FBI has a different role here. That is not how it works.”
