President Trump attacked California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein by name at the White House Tuesday.

The president faced a barrage of questions about allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh from Christine Blasey Ford, who has publicly accused him of assaulting her 36 years ago when they were both teenagers.

Kavanaugh has forcefully denied the allegations as have others who were allegedly present when the misconduct was supposed to have occurred.

President Trump said he wants “both sides” to be heard over the allegation but attacked Feinstein for withholding information during the private questioning and confirmation hearing of Kavanaugh. Feinstein had the allegations from Ford weeks before Kavanaugh’s public hearing.

“It is frankly a terrible thing that this information wasn’t given to us a long time ago,” Trump said of the allegations, “Months ago when they got it. They could’ve done that instead of waiting until everything was finished and then all of a sudden spring it.”

Trump continued, saying “That’s with the Democrats do. That’s what they do. It’s obstruction, resist, whatever you have to do.”

Trump then directly attacked Feinstein by name, saying she should have asked Kavanaugh about the allegation while he was in her office for a private meeting.

“That should’ve been done a long time ago and when Senator Feinstein had Judge Kavanaugh in her office for a long time, she never even mentioned this — and that was a long time ago,” Trump said, “never even mentioned it. So why would you not bring this up when he is sitting in her office for a pretty extended period of time?”

Trump called the process the Democrats have followed “unfortunate.”

President Trump also dismissed the potential for the FBI to get involved in the allegations.

“I don’t think the FBI should be involved because they don’t want to be involved,” Trump said, noting that the FBI has signaled that they will not be investigating this accusation, “If they wanted to be I would certainly do that. As you know, they say this is not really their thing. The Senators will do a good job.”

Trump concluded the remarks saying that “Judge Kavanaugh is very anxious to [testify].”
