Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill said Wednesday she will vote “no” for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, hours after saying she would put the high school-era sexual assault accusation against the Supreme Court nominee “aside.”

McCaskill, who is up for re-election, said hours earlier that she was expecting to make her decision “shortly, very shortly in fact” and also reportedly called the accusations “disturbing.” Before making the decision, she reportedly was asked about the accusations against Kavanaugh sexually assaulting Christine Blasey Ford while the two were in high school and said she would “set them aside.”

“It is his allegiance to the position that unlimited donations and dark anonymous money, from even foreign interests, should be allowed to swamp the voices of individuals that has been the determining factor in my decision to vote no on his nomination,” McCaskill said in a statement Wednesday night. (RELATED: McCaskill Says She Will Set Kavanaugh Allegations ‘Aside’ — Will Make Decision ‘Very Shortly’)

“He has revealed his bias against limits on campaign donations which places him completely out of the mainstream of this nation. He wrote, ‘And I have heard very few people say that limits on contributions to candidates are unconstitutional although I for one tend to think those limits have some constitutional problems,'” McCaskill continued.

The Missouri Democrat has joined a number of Democrats in opposing Kavanaugh, who will testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Monday.
