Profiles In History has announced that two iconic Hollywood firearms will go to auction July 30, 2012.
In lot #369 Chuck Conners 44-40 Winchester rifle from the TV show The Rifleman will go on the block. The rifle is a modified Winchester model 1892 that is able to fire when the lever is closed after a round has been chambered, which enabled him to rapid fire the rifle without having to finger depress the trigger.
Jeff Conners, son of Chuck Conners, said his father presented the rifle to him when he was at his father’s ranch inn Bear Valley Springs in Tehachapi, California, and was one of five rifles custom built for the show.
The estimated auction price is $40,000 – $60,000 and you will need to make arrangements with an FFL to receive the rifle.
The second gun will be sold in lot #372 and was carried my Michael Landon while playing Little Joe Cartwright on the show Bonanza. It is a Colt Single-Action Army made in 1956 chambered in .38 Special. Mrs. Lynn Landon, wife of the deceased Michael Landon, includes a letter of authenticity stating the gun was used on the show and in his personal appearances.
The estimated auction price is $12,000 – $15,000. Like the Lucas McCain Winchester you will need to arrange shipping through an FFL.
