Politico took a big step toward repairing its relationship with women today. They’ve given two newly created executive slots to females.

“We are excited to name two new members to our company’s executive leadership team: Danielle Jones, Executive Vice President, Expansion, and Miki King, Executive Vice President, Operations,” states a memo from VandeHarris and COO Kim Kingsley reported on the pub’s obviously biased media blog.

Politico needed to release good news as they’ve been reeling from the recent loss of their Executive Editor Rick Berke, who didn’t even last a year on the job.

But in brighter news, Jones will be responsible for the expansion of Politico Europe as well as branches in key states. She’ll also “craft and implement a new strategy for training European staff on the POLITICO approach to journalism.” [Insert incessant WIN THE MORNING joke here.]

The newsroom pack so far seems pleased.

“Heart & soul of POLITICO from day one,” remarked Politico White House and magazine writer Glenn Thrush of Jones’ promotion.

“Exciting!” echoed media writer Hadas Gold.

In other Politico promotional news, Miki King was upped to Executive VP of Operations from VP of Business Development. The memo says she’s “brimming with passion.”

Among her new responsibilities, Miki will oversee something called a “Talent Operations Team.”  This team will focus on “attracting, training, developing and retaining talent at every level of the organization, with a renewed focus on diversity recruitment.”

Who knows? Someday there may even be a space for WaPo‘s insufferable Wesley Lowery, who recently cracked on Twitter, “bro, black ppl don’t work for Politico.”

By the way, Wesley, it just so happens Miki King is black.
