Cyle Larin’s EPIC Miss On El Salvador’s Open Net In Gold Cup 2015

Cyle Larin — number one overall pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft and forward for Orlando City — was close to scoring his seventh ‘professional’ goal in a tight game against El Salvador when he overshot and had what has been titled the “most epic miss” in the 2015 Gold Cup.

In the 36th minute of the tied 0-0 game, Larin rounded El Salvador goalkeeper, Derby Carrillo, and faced a wide open net, Sports Illustrated reported.

But instead of kicking a simple roller into the free net, Larin shot the ball several feet above the crossbar, leading El Salvador fans to erupt into wild celebration.

After the miss, Larin fell to the ground in dismay. What could have given Canada a one-point lead ended up being a major disappointment for the rookie footballer.
