Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is quoted calling Tim Kaine a “terrible” choice for a running mate, in a book about the 2008 presidential elections.

“One-in-eight chance,” Clinton is quoted as saying in the book “Game Change,” regarding President Barack Obama’s chances of winning the 2008 election if he chose Kaine as his running mate. The Democrat senator is now serving as Clinton’s running mate.

She’s quoted in the book giving Obama 50-50 odds at winning the general if he picked Vice President Joe Biden, or a one-in-four chance if he picked then-Sen. Evan Bayh, but characterizes Kaine as a “terrible” choice.

Here’s the excerpt from John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s book, which was highlighted in a photo posted on reddit:

Clinton returned to Obama’s prospects in the general election. “I think it’s fifty-fifty whether he wins, right?” she said, noting that Obama’s VP choice was critical, giving odds on whom he would pick: “Biden, one-in-two chance. Bayh, one-in-four chance. Kaine and Sebelius, both which I think are terrible choices, one-in-eight chance.”
