Job creation was close to reaching a record high in the month of June, falling only one point from May’s record number, according to a new Gallup report.
U.S. job creation has been rising as the index has not dropped below +30 for 16 months. Economists say that the current 4.3% unemployment rate means the nation is nearing “full employment,” Gallup wrote. Since the index has yet to dip below the +30s in 2017 there is a reason for those who need jobs to stay positive.
“The Job Creation Index is a nearly real-time indicator of the nation’s employment picture across all industries and business sectors. Gallup’s index does not measure the type (full time or part time) or quality of the job gains or losses as reported by workers,” Art Swift explained.
Gallup’s job creation index has continued to maintain solid numbers since President Donald Trump took office. In the past 3 months, the average number of jobs rising per month is 121,000, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report released in June.
Trump heavily campaigned on job creation throughout his 2016 presidential bid and these numbers are no doubt a good sign for Trump and the supporters who voted over his campaign promises on jobs.
“Over the next 10 years, our economic team estimates that under our plan the economy will average 3.5 percent growth and create a total of 25 million new jobs. You can visit our website, just look at the math, it works,” Trump said in a September speech.
