An illegal immigrant, previously removed from the United States twice, has been indicted for drug trafficking, along with 7 others.

Eight men in the Dayton, Ohio, region were indicted on trafficking charges, and suspected of dealing heroin, tramadol, and fentanyl.

One suspect indicted, 40-year-old Fermin Garcia-Gutierrez, had been removed from the U.S. twice before. He was indicted for conspiracy and trafficking.

Others involved are, “Jose Angel Ramirez-Nazario; Sergio Candelas-Ruiz; Lizabeth Ruiz; Marcus Williams; Kuron Evans; and Jorge Bejarano,” Dayton Daily News reported Monday.

Arrests related to this case were first made in January.

Data indicates that drug deaths are spiking in America at an unprecedented rate. The New York Times analysis of data concluded that at least 59,000 overdose deaths occurred in 2016, the biggest jump ever seen.

That report specifically mentioned fentanyl as being especially deadly to users, and profiled several Ohio counties where drug deaths jumped in recent years.

Fentanyl is a narcotic that is 50 times as powerful as heroin, and when dealers lace heroin with fentanyl and sell it to unknowing users, it can be very deadly.

Most heroin in the United States comes across the Mexican border.
