The remote has its own integrated microphone for you to speak into in order to command the Alexa that lives in your device. That way, Alexa will hear you even if the room is noisy or even if you are on a different floor. The remote also has buttons to control the Echo or Echo Dot – volume up, volume down, play/pause, previous and next – great for when you are in charge of operating the speaker at a party.
The Alexa Voice Remote isn’t necessarily a must-have if you have an Echo or Echo Dot. But it definitely helps.
