An Arizona police department released body camera footage showing an officer gunning down a man as he crawled toward him, just a few hours after a jury found the officer not guilty Thursday.
The new body camera footage shows the 2016 fatal shooting of Daniel Shaver by officer Philip Brailsford at a Phoenix, Ariz. hotel. Brailsford and other officers showed up to the hotel to respond to a call about a person waving a gun out of the hotel’s window.

Officers can be heard giving Shaver various orders to lie on the ground without moving or risk getting shot.
“Young man, you are not to move. You are to put your eyes down, look down at the carpet, you are to keep your fingers interlaced behind your head, you are to keep your feet crossed,” an officer orders him.
Shaver obeys and then the officer proceeds to give Shaver multiple orders to put his hands above his head or to kneel or to cross his legs. Shaver then apologizes, asking the officers not to shoot him.
“Your hands go back in the small of your back or down, we are going to shoot you. Do you understand me?” an officer shouts at one point in the video.
The cop then orders Shaver to crawl towards him, but video shows him reaching for his waistband, prompting the officer to shoot him. Shaver was unarmed at the time, but Brailsford claimed he believed he was going to shoot him.
A jury deliberated for about six hours before finding Brailsford not guilty of second degree murder charges; the cop said during his trial that he would act the same way if he had to do it all over again.
