President Donald Trump cheered on protesters across the Islamic Republic of Iran Sunday letting the regime know the U.S. is closely watching for human rights violations.

Protests have rocked multiple cities across Iran for three consecutive days with some calls for head cleric Ayatollah Khamenei to quit. The protesters were reportedly sparked by high food prices in Iran and grievances over how much the government spends on funding terrorist groups and supporting Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad.

Some protesters also called for a referendum on the government much like the one that brought the revolutionary regime to power in 1979. Iranian authorities are now blocking social media access on popular applications in an effort to quell the protests, much like the actions taken by Arab nations during the 2011 demonstrations across the middle east.
