Members of President Donald Trump’s staff call Republican Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee when they are having a rough a day.

Corker told The Washington Post Tuesday that Trump staffers have been calling him from what sounds “like the inside of coat closets,” to lament about how the White House is managed. The phone calls are not infrequent, either.

“It happened enough where no doubt I was drawn into the drama that was occurring,” Corker told The Washington Post.

The Tennessee senator has had no shortage of feuds with the president, once likening the Trump White House to an “adult daycare center” and calling the president’s off-the-cuff, unscripted style of putting the U.S. at risk of World War II.

Corker was rumored to be a favorite to become Trump’s running mate and future vice president. Given his foreign policy focus, Corker was also floated in the final pool of names to become the president’s secretary of state.

Trump and Corker reportedly have a better working and interpersonal relationship now, which the senator attributes to his previous bouts with the president.

“Despite everything we do have a very, very warm relationship,” Corker said.
