Health care is currently the top issue for midterm voters, according to an NBC and Wall Street Journal poll released Thursday.

The poll found 22 percent of voters said health care was their top issue. Health care was followed by the economy, with 19 percent saying that it was their top issue. Guns came in third with 13 percent of voters polled ranking them as their most important issue. (RELATED: Gun Control Is Fading From Young Americans’ Agenda)

There were differences in what was important to Democrats and Republicans. Health care was the top issue for Democratic voters, with 32 percent saying it was the most important. The top issue for Republicans was the economy, with 26 percent listing it as their top issue.

Democrats are banking on health care being a big midterm issue, with Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer reportedly planning on pushing the issue during the August session.

NBC and The Wall Street Journal conducted the poll from June 1-4 and polled 900 registered voters. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
