Actress Jada Pinkett Smith claimed Monday that she was taught how to masturbate at age nine by her grandma.

Smith claimed that her grandma taught her “self-pleasuring” at an early age so that she would not be dependent on a man for sexual pleasure, according to an episode of her Facebook show Red Table Talk. The actress further explained her sexual history with her 64-year-old mom Adrienne Banfield-Jones, 17-year-old daughter Willow, and her daughter’s friend Telana Lynum in an episode titled “Sex Talk! Personal Stories From Three Generations.” (RELATED: ‘Knotty Vibes’ Feminist Startup Thinks Giving Away Sex Toys Empowers Women)

“My grandmother taught me about self-pleasuring because she wanted me to know that that pleasure was from me,” Pinkett Smith said. “She didn’t want me to fall into the hands of a man, and if he gave me pleasure, to think that that was him. And she taught me at 9!” People magazine reported. (RELATED: Sex Ed Teacher On Administrative Leave After Showing ‘Inappropriate’ Videos In Class)

“I think by your age, I gave myself multiples first,” Pinkett Smith added to Lynum. “Multiple orgasms. I was really into it at one point. Just because I was in an exploration state and I was abstaining from men.” (RELATED: Provocative Sex Toy Ads To Appear On NYC Subway)
