Richard Painter, previously an ethics lawyer for former President George W. Bush, released his first campaign ad for U.S. Senate on Sunday, and it involves actual fire.
“Some people see a dumpster fire and do nothing but watch the spectacle,” Painter, running as a Democrat in Minnesota, said in the ad in front of a burning dumpster. “There is an inferno raging in Washington. But here in the land of 10,000 lakes, we know how to put out a fire.”
WATCH:
The fire in the video is not a simulation, but an actual fire that Painter is only a few feet away from. (RELATED: Richard Painter Won’t Back The Eight Women Who Accused Al Franken Of Sexual Harassment)

Painter, reportedly still a registered Republican, is running for the Senate seat vacated by disgraced former Sen. Al Franken. Painter is a frequent opponent of President Donald Trump, tweeting Sunday that if people do not “remove [Trump] from office” the U.S. could end up like “Nazi Germany.”
