CNN’s Don Lemon hosted a panel Monday night to discuss the current United States immigration policy of separating children from their parents at the border, and things quickly went awry.

Lemon had to stop himself from cursing on camera as he asked Republican commentator Mike Shields why media released by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows only boys in Texas detention centers.
“Why are we seeing a disproportional number of boys at these centers?” he asked. “Are [these images] being released strategically because they are afraid these guys are going to grow up and they’re going to be the MS-13 gang members? Because they’re not showing little girls, and there have to be little girls there.”
Shields replied, “I don’t know the answer to that and the media’s certainly covering it and telling everyone that there are children and girls there. … I can’t speak to why they did that.”
After a back-and-forth with Lemon over Obama’s immigration policies, Shields said, “The president ran on enforcing the border. It wasn’t a secret policy of his. He ran against Hillary Clinton who had an opposite policy, he won. This is something that he’s doing exactly what he said he was going to do, which is enforce the rules, the law at the border.”
Lemon took issue with this claim, sarcastically asking if the president ran “to be a jerk, to be an ass. … Basically he ran on being a jerk.” (RELATED: CBS Host Says Statue Of Liberty Is ‘Weeping’)
Rick Wilson, an anti-Trump Republican strategist, then joined the conversation and asserted, “This is a complete policy of deliberate cruelty. This is a policy of deliberate political strategic manipulation…this is a president who specializes in both grand and petty cruelties to people.”
Wilson wasn’t done, however, telling Lemon, “I was a critic of Barack Obama on a lot of his immigration policies, but I never noticed Barack Obama had a bunch of giggling idiots around him reveling in how cruel their [bleep] policies were.”
Finally, Lemon brought on CNN contributor Ana Navarro.

Navarro has been a frequent critic of the Trump administration and didn’t ease up in this segment, telling Lemon, “I don’t know what to say. I really am almost speechless at the cynicism, the callousness, the sheer lies coming out of this White House on this.”
Referring to Trump as “President Loco,” Navarro concluded, “The bottom line is he wants to continue this horrible, horrible cruelty.”
It was the final 10 seconds of the segment that were especially bizarre.
Don Lemon, running out of time for the segment, told Shields, “If you can give me something in 10 seconds, I’ll give you the last word.”
Navarro abruptly interrupted and shouted, “I think you should say damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it. That would take up the 10 seconds. How’s that for 10 seconds?”
“That sums up this debate,” Shields said.
“I can even teach you do it in Spanish,” Navarro said before being cut off.
