Canada could take “many” of the DREAMers who could be sent back as illegal immigrants, according to a 2017 Trudeau government briefing note obtained by the Toronto Star.

The document, obtained through an access to information request, is heavily censored with regards to the ultimate advice provided to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

However, the note is a response to the President Donald Trump’s plan to end the Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, with Canadian bureaucrats apparently anxious to provide sanctuary for the approximately 700,000 DREAMers, many of whom they say could easily qualify under Canadian Immigration laws.

“While some DACA recipients may attempt to enter Canada as asylum seekers, many could qualify under the various immigration program streams,” the September 2017 briefing note reads.

The document suggests that many DACA recipients may even “apply for permanent residency through express entry” if they have post-secondary education.

The note even suggests that “various U.S. studies (that) have shown that DACA has had a positive impact on educational attainment and employment.”

The document claims that up to 60 percent of DACA recipients are home owners, enter post-secondary education programs at a higher percentage than cRoughly 60 per cent of DACA recipients own their own home, have a higher rate of enrollment in post-secondary education than U.S. citizens — with 16 percent either attending college or earning a university degree.
