A Columbia student and former anti-sexual violence Nobel Peace Prize nominee got arrested Tuesday on child pornography and attempted child sex crime charges.
A federal investigation into the student and former nominee, Joel Davis, began in May and ended Monday, according to the New York Post. The Columbia student received a 2015 Nobel Peace Prize nomination in honor of his work with Youth to End Sexual Violence, a group which he founded.
Davis allegedly texted lewd photographs of children and infants to undercover federal operatives during the investigation and described his interest in having sex with children. The Nobel nominee also purportedly planned to meet up and have sex with two-year-old and nine-year-old girls. (RELATED: Columbia Settles Lawsuit With Victim Of ‘Mattress Girl’)
Davis allegedly posted to a fetish website under the screen name “yngperv22” on May 15, suggesting to a federal agent that he had “no limits” and was sexually interested in children aged “0+.” The Columbia student also apparently bragged about having sex with three children who ranged in age from nine months to seven years.
The International Campaign to Stop Rape and Gender Conflict previously named Davis to its board of directors, reported NBC 2. Davis became the group’s chairman in 2017, a position he held until May 2018. He also served as a U.S. Youth Ambassador on sexual violence in conflict for the United Nations.
Columbia University, Davis, and Youth to End Sexual Violence did not respond immediately to requests for comment.
